It is very uncommon to find a mantle of this form in this rare, elegant wood type.  Bird's Eye Maple is generally reserved for smaller uses such as inlay against a darker wood background, but only when the burl is allowed to be displayed in such gracious quantities are we really able to appreciate just how beautiful a grain it contains. 

This antique (circa 1900) mantel is fabricated out of solid maple and then the front columns are veneered with that all so sumptuous bird's eye maple.  Very large in scale, this piece will command attention to any hearth it is placed in front of.  Standing approximately 80" tall and 64" wide, with an opening of 35.5" wide and 36" tall.
